Abstract

The aim of this study is to examine the process of new venture creation, which lies at the heart of entrepreneurship and management theories. This process, while crucial for entrepreneurship researchers, also provides management scholars with an opportunity to reassess assumptions and expand existing theories. By reviewing past research on new venture creation, this study offers valuable insights for a deeper understanding of this process. The research methodology involves a qualitative content analysis of articles related to "new venture creation." Following a comprehensive search in a reputable database and selecting relevant articles, the final set of articles was analyzed. Based on content analysis and coding, the articles were categorized into key thematic clusters, covering various dimensions of the process. The findings identified categories such as "drivers," "opportunity identification and development," "team and social capital," "external enablers," and "performance, growth, and survival." These categories are presented as a continuum, beginning with opportunity recognition and progressing through leveraging social capital and external enablers to the performance and survival of new ventures. This study provides a comprehensive framework of the literature on new venture creation, offering a clear pathway for future research. It also identifies key milestones in the field and introduces new perspectives for researchers.
