Aim
The Journal of Science and Technology Policy Letters (JSTPL) is a peer-reviewed, open-access, quarterly scientific journal that provides a professional and scholarly venue for discussion of ‘public policies for science, technology, research, and innovation' as well as ‘science, technology, and innovation for policy' at the local, national, and international levels.
The JSTPL seeks to advance public policy and governance expertise in a variety of fields via the use of evidence and experiences from Iran and developing nations, as well as to propose innovative solutions to public and social problems. The journal, which focuses on the dynamics of Iranian public policy, encourages a diverse range of social science methodologies, both qualitative and quantitative. The JSTPL embraces a broad definition of public policy and is open to novel ideas and approaches.

Types of articles and topics

It publishes original research, literature and book reviews, methodology, policy analyses and reports, case studies, approaches to education and training, strategy and practice reports, translations, and conference reports. It frequently publishes articles in Persian with an English abstract and title. It does, however, accept articles written in English.

The Journal's primary policy areas of coverage include, but are not limited to:

  • Public policy, governance, regulation, policy evaluation, policy analysis, and public policy comparative studies;
  • Policies for growth, regional and local development, and sustainability;
  • Innovation policies, technology policies, research policies, science and technology studies (STS), science and technology cultural studies, and knowledge management;
  • Energy policy, media policy, economic policy, trade policy, socioeconomic systems, industrial policy, water policy, environmental policy, infrastructure and transportation policy, urban policy, migration policy, intellectual property (IP) policy, and information and communication technology (ICT) policy.

Publisher, owner, and indexing

Sharif Policy Research Institute (SPRI) owns the JSTPL published by the Sharif University of Technology in Tehran, Iran. The Iranian government issued the publishing license in 2008 and later reissued it in 2019 as a Scientific Journal. This quarterly is indexed in Iran's Civilica, Noormags, Magiran, SID, ISC, and Ensani national databases.

Policy on open access and author and user rights

As an open-access journal, all content is freely available to users and their institutions. The complete text of the papers is available for free download in PDF format on the journal's website. Users are permitted to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search for, and link to the entire texts of the articles, as well as to use them for any other lawful purpose, without seeking prior permission from the publisher or author. This satisfies the BOAI's definition of open access.

Additionally, the JSTPL does not charge writers for submitting articles, and publication in this quarterly is entirely free. If the author (s) decides to remove the paper after the journal has announced its final acceptance, he or she must pay the publication's acceptance expenses.

It is licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International (CC BY-SA 4.0). The journal permits authors publishing under this license to retain all rights. The journal permits embargo-free deposit of all versions (including the submitted version, accepted version, and published version) in an institutional or another repository of the author's choice. This journal allows authors to deposit versions of their work in an institutional or other repository of their choice. Authors retain the copyright and full publishing rights without restrictions.

Ethical considerations and plagiarism

The journal uses Samim Noor plagiarism software to safeguard other scholars' rights and to avoid the copying of intellectual works. It adheres to publishing ethical standards by complying with, but not limited to, the Iranian Law on Preventing and Combating Fraud in Scientific Works and the Committee on Publication Ethics' regulations (COPE).

Access and payment

The Journal of Science and Technology Policy Letters (JSTPL) does not charge authors to submit articles, and there is no fee associated with the publication of articles. Authors must reimburse the journal for the costs associated with accepting the article if they choose to withdraw it after final acceptance has been announced.

The Journal of Science and Technology Policy Letters (JSTPL) is a peer-reviewed, open-access journal. Each issue has a single PDF file with the entire text of the articles that visitors can download for free.

Delivering printed certificates and copies of articles

In accordance with the instructions below, authors may receive a high-quality printed copy of their articles along with the certificate of acceptance/ publication. This potential covers every issue of the journal dating back to the first one. It costs nothing to send each piece a single email certificate of approval or publication.

A- A printed copy of an issue in black and white with normal quality, coupled with an acceptance certificate, costs 2,500,000 IR (approx. 10 USD);

B- A printed copy of an issue in black and white with high quality, coupled with an acceptance certificate, costs 3,500,000 IRR (approx. 13 USD);

C- A printed copy of an issue in full color with high quality costs 5,200,000 IRR (approx. 20 USD);

D- A printed copy of an issue in full color with high quality, coupled with an acceptance certificate, costs 7,000,000 IRR (approx. 25 USD).
